I have…… and though I don’t have a 1000 page journal with statistical proof…. Here are my thoughts on the subject.

Just as laughter is referred to as “good medicine” I am equally convinced that beauty is too!

That is why beauty is a cousin to health!

Working all these year in the beauty industry I actually see a real physical metamorphosis in clients after they receive a hair service or a facial service.

The difference between when a client comes in feeling “ugly”,(though of course they are not) but they FEEL this way and when they leave feeling beautiful you can visibly see a transformation! They walk taller, they are smiling, their eyes reach out to connect with your eyes and there is a “spring in their step”.

I believe that something physically happens just as when we laugh that promotes good health. A release of sorts, a boost to our immune system or endorphins maybe… Whatever the science of it may be…. I believe that looking better makes you literally feel better.

The exhibitors at the International Salon and Spa Expo (ISSE) did a bang up job this year with their staging, models and presentations.

Every year Professional Owners, Stylists, Aestheticians, and others from our industry from all around get together to view the latest and the greatest the industry has to offer. We do this so that we can bring that back into our salons and to share that with YOU our customers.

Since this show is not open to the public and only professional, licensed cosmetologists can attend we thought you might enjoy a sneak-peek at what we are lucky enough to get to enjoy every year.

WOW! What an exhilarating experience to be surrounded by people in our field who are SO committed and passionate about the Art of Beauty, Continued Education and Professionalism.

It is always a pleasure to share and network with these professionals who truly are committed and dedicated to raising the bar!

Whether you want to try something subtle ala Rihanna or bold in Katy Perry-esque fashion color is the word in 2012.

Some of my favorite picks are the Black with Blue or Purples, Blondes with eye popping Pinks and Chestnut Browns with ravishing Reds or Burgundies.

Color adds dimension and depth whether you chose an edgy and playful look or stay with the classics.

This year’s looks take their cue from some of the hottest and brightest stars out there but you don’t have to be a rock star to look like one.

The Ombre Highlights are another option for a fun and edgy look. That gives the impression of overgrown unkempt highlights and requires less maintenance than the traditional or peek-a-boo highlights.

Of course the classics are, well um classic….. Traditional colors and highlights are always in. So if you’re not quite ready to embrace your inner rock star that’s ok too.

Hint: remember to be kind to your color and use shampoos and conditioners that are for color or chemically treated hair to increase your colors longevity.

Those days of battling with your curly hard to manage locks are over thanks to the Brazilian Keratin Treatment!
